Nokomis High School Athletics

  • Last night the Redskins Baseball season came to an end. I want to congratulate them on a great season. They finished 20-14 on the season and 9-1 in the conference, earned a co-conference championship, and finished 2nd in the county tournament behind a very good Litchfield team. I would like to thank the boys for all their hard work and effort put into our program. The two and half hour practices at the beginning of the season and all the indoor hitting practices because of the lovely spring weather. The Saturday mornings getting up to listen to me critique the little things trying to better them on and off the diamond. It has been a pleasure coaching these fifteen gentlemen over the last three and half months watching them grow into a better team, player, and young man. A special thank you to my two seniors this year, Daydream and Saint. I have been blessed to coach these two young men over the last four years. Although they may not always be on time or remember everything they need for practice, I never once had to question their effort. They were always coachable and willing to do anything we asked of them as a coaching staff. We, as coaches and a team, want to wish them the best as they start the next chapter in their lives. Thank you to my assistants this year, Coach Goodwin, Coach Nagle and U-man for helping us have success this year and putting back into this program!

A few season stat leaders for us and I'll get off my soap box here.

Daydream led our team AVG, .355 and OPS, .928. Daydream had a team best 6 strikeouts on the season. Daydream and Drake tied for 9 doubles a piece on the season. Saint led the team in triples with 2, OBP, .456, runs scored with 34, and a team high 23 stolen bases. Doyen led the team in hits with 37 on the season and 3 home runs, which also led the team. Drake led the team in walks with 19 on the season.

Thank you again gentlemen for a season to remember!
